El Basco Grande
Miguel Leonis — aka “El Basco Grande” — was a larger-than-life, wealthy French Basque rancho owner, standing six feet four inches with striking blue eyes. Don Miguel was a litigious, unrelenting land grabber and sometime vigilante who fiercely guarded his domain against squatters, usually with a small army of hired Native Americans and Mexicans. He acquired land in present day West Hills and Woodland Hills, as well as in Downtown Los Angeles, and he made his home in Calabasas (visit the Leonis Adobe Museum). He was feared as a ruthless land usurper yet respected as a gentleman farmer.
BIG FLAVOR, is how we describe this special blend of medium and dark roast coffees from Ethiopia, India, and Peru. In this blend you will find bold, dark fruit flavors and wine-like acidity, rounded out by the rich taste of our dark roast Peru. Roast level is 2/3 medium, 1/3 dark.
We think that medium and dark roast coffee drinkers alike, will find enjoyment in this blend.
